How can we go even further to reduce emissions?

When it comes to producing low emission cars, it's not just what comes out of the exhaust that we need to consider. We need to think differently and look at all aspects of the manufacturing process.

So what do we do?

We look at the bigger picture

Our pioneering Resource Recycling Group is a world first in raw material processing. At Hyundai we produce our own steel at our state-of-the-art plant, which is designed to reduce the environmental impact of steel production. It also allows us to build new cars using our own steel sheets. In fact, we reuse as much we can, including the steel from scrapped vehicles, which is melted down and used to produce construction material.

So how does this affect you?

You get more than low emission cars

By investing heavily in next-generation green vehicles, we're world leaders in designing and creating core technologies for fuel cell and hybrid cars.

So if you want to go green, drive Blue. The Hyundai Blue Drive range is our commitment to eco-friendly motoring. Smart technology in all our Blue Drive cars reduces emissions and saves you fuel and money - without compromising on performance.

And the figures for our brand new i10 Blue speak for themselves. It emits just 99g/km CO2 making it the most accessible sub-100g/km CO2 car on sale today.

With a lot of hard work, passion and dedication, the ix-onic became the Hyundai ix35. A new kind of car that embodies the very ethos of our Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy: beauty and efficiency in perfect balance. In practice, that means less wind resistance and lower CO2 emissions – but not at the expense of style. And just think, it all came about because we asked ourselves the question; why can't cars be exciting, aesthetically pleasing and economical - all at the same time?

Make it happen

Having carefully studied the ix-onic's profile and optimised its continuous character lines in the conceptual drawings, we knew we had a car that looked great on paper. So we set about making it a reality. A mix of contemporary design cues were used, like our signature hexagonal front grille, combined with New Thinking, along such lines as how fluidic sculpture could decrease fuel consumption. Taking these drawings and ideas, we transformed them into a fully functioning concept car.

Be inspired

The ix-onic was the first ever Hyundai concept car to be created using our Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy. Inspired by nature, it embraces contrasts in the natural harmony of flowing lines; like the gentle curves of a sand dune against the rigid surface of the landscape. When we applied this groundbreaking new approach, a sketch was transformed into a conceptual drawing, at the moment when creative expression meets practical design.

How does natural harmony inspire design?

When we design concept cars, our imagination is fuelled by the core concepts of quality, originality, sustainability and customer focus. They give us the basis to put our New Thinking to the test. And open up New Possibilities by furthering our understanding of new design techniques and new technologies. But, back in the real world, what's the point of pouring all that creativity and passion into a concept car that never makes it beyond the concept stage?

Our thoughts exactly.

Hyundai - New thinking, new possibilies

Welcome to our new way of thinking. It's bigger, smarter and driven by the desire to share stylish, high quality and efficient vehicles with everyone. To us, New Thinking means challenging convention and pushing boundaries. And New Possibilities means coming up with more forward-thinking ideas and solutions. But whatever we're doing, our responsibilities to our customers, society and the environment are paramount.

We're not afraid to ask ourselves difficult questions when the answers are worth finding. Here are four examples.

How did we turn football sponsorship into support?

The great thing about thinking differently is that it doesn't only improve our cars. Take our sponsorship of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. To us, sponsorship doesn't just mean Hyundai team buses for the players and officials and perimeter boards at the matches. It's also about bringing people together and helping communities at all levels.

We were on the ball

Even before the 2010 FIFA World Cup began, we were touring the country with our giant Goodwill Ball collecting messages of support for the England team.

Then when the games began, our UK-based Fan Parks saw 250,000 people getting together to watch the matches and cheer on the teams.

But we didn't stop there...

We went back to the grassroots

Our dealers brought the World Cup to their local communities with families trading their old footballs for new ones. Usable footballs were sent to our partner charity SOS Africa who flew them - along with over 5,000 new balls - to South Africa where they brought the World Cup to the townships. And the unusable balls were recycled.

But still, we didn't stop there...

See how John barnes helped us do this

We brought it home for everyone

With your help, we were also able to send a further million balls to underprivileged children in Africa to enhance and support youth education.

How? We sent one ball for every Hyundai sold until the millionth customer drove away in their new car.

All of which proves just how powerful New Thinking is. It opened us up to New Possibilities that took us back to the grassroots. And enabled us to help and enhance the lives of people in ways traditional corporate sponsorship alone can't do.

How can we guarantee quality?

When it comes to delivering quality, we go further than other car manufacturers. Why? Because we know doing things ourselves is the best way to get things done.

Other car manufacturers buy robots to build their cars...

We build our own robots

We know our robots intimately because we build them ourselves. Not only do they meet our high standards but they allow us to continually make innovations and improvements in efficiency.

Now we've got spot welding, material handling, cutting, assembling and sealing robots all delivering precision engineering.

It's thinking like this that drives us forward. As they say, if you want something done properly...

You get peace of mind

It's New Thinking that gives us the confidence to extend our warranty to Five Years on all our cars. But even this isn't enough for us. So unlike other manufacturers, our warranty comes with an unlimited mileage promise.

And because we're a company who likes to stay one step ahead, all our new passenger cars now come with Hyundai's 5 Year Triple Care package*, which includes a 5 year warranty, 5 years of RAC Roadside Assistance and 5 Years of Annual Vehicle Healthchecks, for complete peace of mind.

We ask ourselves difficult questions so you get miles of worry-free driving.
